Dang.

I noticed something about JoJo today that I hadn't realized yesterday. He is a siamese cat. He's all black, but unmistakably a siamese. I have never had one of those before, he's almost too fancy for my apartment. But his temperment is really great, even though he is very "underfoot". Kim was right...they are a very nice breed.

Sadly though, he took a big crap on my couch. I've never had that happen before unless the cat was trying to tell me something. And even that was very rare. So I put him in the litterbox, and shut him in the bathroom for a few minutes. I don't know how else to impress upon him how bad that is. Now he is not allowed in the bedroom alone; in fact, neither cat is for the time being.

Pentelope is still hissing a bit. I expect that will subside in time. JoJo is very friendly and boisterous so I gave them both a bunch of new toys to play with.
I'm just really nervous about him not using the box. We won't be able to keep him if he doesn't learn.
Tips?

The Moon Card
You are the Moon card. Entering the Moon we enter
the intuitive and psychic realms. This is the
stuff dreams are made on. And like dreams the
imagery we find here may inspire us or torment
us. Understanding the moon requires looking
within. Our own bodily rhythms are echoed in
this luminary that circles the earth every
month and reflects the sun in its progress.
Listening to those rhythms may produce visions
and lead you towards insight. The Moon is a
force that has legends attached to it. It
carries with it both romance and insanity.
Moonlight reveals itself as an illusion and it
is only those willing to work with the force of
dreams that are able to withstand this
reflective light. Image from: Stevee Postman.

Why is it that you feel like Jojo is a Siamese? It certainly could have some of the traits of a siamese cat (like Nolan has German Shepard in her), but you just mentioned that he was Siamese, you didn't say why, I was just wondering.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-10-02 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
His hear, ear, tail and body shape are totally that of K and N's siamese...you know, that kind of aliencat look. Plus he's really docile and languid like that cat. I just wasn't looking for it because he is all black.

You'll totally see it when you meet him. Are you guys coming over tomorrow?

Does JoJo have that Siamese voice? They have a different "meow."

Also, be sure to take the poop and put it in the litter box. Then show the kitty what you did, and how to cover the poo.

It helps.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-10-02 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, it is the kind of meow that would terrorize a cute Disney dog.

I realized I should have put the poo in the box right after i threw it away. Hopefully, it will not happen again. He knows where the box is, he is just used to being an outside cat.

That should be his head, ears, etc.

I seem to have temporarily forgotten how to type properly.

He'll learn. I have to come visit him.

Not just a black cat...but a black siamese. That is so awesome. One of my favorite cats when I was a teen was a regular old siamese we had. He was very vocal. He would talk to us all the time. And no matter where in the house he was and we were he would make us hear him. Part of what I like about siamese cats.

The only thing I can think about litter box training was said by someone else. If it happens again put the poop in the box and show him whats up.

Yeah...I'm really starting to worry now since someone just peed on my chair while I was out of the room for a few minutes. I'm pretty sure it wasn't me. ;-/

I would really hate not to be able to keep him, because he is pretty cool. But H will lose his mind of the new apartment gets covered in cat mess.

I'm going to try some training things, and watch them closely so I can discipline him as needed. He was just neutered so I don't know why he'd be wanting to mark the furniture already. I'm hoping it will stop when they both calm down.

Maybe he's best as a outdoor cat.

I had a cat that pooped in my bed..repeatedly. I'll never have cats again.

According to cat people, he is young enough that he should be able to adapt to being inside only. I'm going to get him his own litterbox tomorrow. Hopefully that will help. In the mean time, we're just shutting doors like crazy.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-10-02 10:40 am (UTC)(link)
Whelp, he just did it again...this time on Pentelopes chair (don't tell Steve, that's where he always sits). I need to go get another litterbox and figure out where to put it tomorrow.

Feel like driving my ass to PetCo? I know I shouldn't shop at PetCo, but I need to do this the cheapest way possible.

[identity profile] uterdic.livejournal.com 2005-10-02 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, we should be there tonight. I'm looking forward to meeting him.

[identity profile] madush69.livejournal.com 2005-10-02 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Call me today. SUNDAY. I'll take you to get kitty supplies. Also, be sure to join kittypix, post a shot and ask advice from the group.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-10-02 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. Actually, I went out early and got one already. He is shut up in the bathroom right now until he figures out how to use the box.

[identity profile] nate101000.livejournal.com 2005-10-02 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
The next time he does that, push his nose up close to it, and smack him.

That's what I'd do.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 07:48 am (UTC)(link)
That doesn't work for cats, only dogs.

He has his own box now and gets locked in the bathroom whenever I can't actively watch him--so when I'm out or sleeping. But then we had to move Pente's box into the hallway so she could still get to it.

He has gone into his box but hasn't used it that i can see. It's looking less and less like he will be able to stay.

It doesn't work for dogs either. They just look at you like you're nuts.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, that makes sense.

[identity profile] nate101000.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I assure you that it works for Cats. But I forgot that you also have to show them the box after you smack them.
