  1. bud cort:
The star of such remarkable films as Gasss, Harold and Maude and the horrible but amusing pilot: Bates Motel. I heart him, even bald.
  2. ddr:
One of my fave forms of excersize, and I hates me some excersize.
  3. fulci:
One of the three grat Italian horror directors along with Argento and Bava (both Bava's I suppose). His most well known film is probably Zombi, which features the immortal, underwater zombie v shark scene. It so happens I saw Zombi at the drive in as the second movie after Alien.
  4. horror:
Duh, I watch it, I write it, I love it, I live it.
  5. lemony snicket:
He's the guy who writes the second best selling childrens books in the world (after Harry Potter of course). I only own his first three books because I have never seen them used or in paperback. Good stuff though. Oh, and it's a pen name.
  6. nanowrimo:
The thing that made me complete a novel. I'm trying to sell it now, with little to no luck. I'll be doing it again this year, as NaNoWriYear was a cruel disappointment.
  7. richard cheese:
Lounge covers of popular music, with tons of swears!?? Yes, please.
  8. smallville:
I must confess I'm less interested in this show than I used to be. Last season sucked hard. Though it took less of a nose dive than say, Dead Zone. Tom Welling is still hot, and Lex only gets more evil, so I'll be watching this season. Besides, Lana may do something intelligent this season and Lois may decrease her overall annoying ways.
  9. theremin:
I love it even though I can't play it.
  10. zombies:
Again, duh. I fear them, I seek them, I write them, and I prepare endlessly for their coming.

My freind who is giving me my new cat soon is desperately trying to get rid of another cat. She is about a year old, grey, friendly and house trained. I'd love to take two cats, but H isn't having it. He wasn't too keen on my getting another cat, let along two. So if anyone local would like a beautiful cat to keep them company and be their pal, do let me know.

In other news, we went grocery shopping today and I swear I wanted to push the cashier out of the way and ring my shit up myself. They were all so damn slow, some of them even carry on whole conversations with eachother while they scan groceries at the speed of molasses in one of the colder months. Yes, I know they do have U-scan machines, but I swear i always get stuck behind someone who has never used one before, can't count and doesn't have enough money with them. Madness.

Morons at the grocery store suck ass.

i lurves me some lemony snicket, although i will admit that the books begin to get a bit old after a while. i'd like to see him wrap up the story soon, it's dragged on long enough.

have you read any of his other stuff? i love love loved his book "the basic eight", but didn't care as much for "watch your mouth". basic eight was so splendid that i've read it something like 4 times. w00t!

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-09-20 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't. I'm really behind on my reading since I lost touch with my friend at Borders who used to keep me caught up with books.

I bought the bio he did, but left it on the bus and never saw it again.

You forget, or at least omit: Bud Cort was the father in 'But I'm A Cheerleader' and Temporary God in 'Dogma.' Also, I think I recognized him in 'M*A*SH', the actual movie, from 'Harold and Maude.' (... and I didn't have to use IMDB. I, too, must love Bud Cort.)

Oh, nice!!

Would you beleive I have never seen MASH? I also did not watch the show much at all, though I do understand the appeal.

MASH was my favorite tv show in the '70s. Much fun until they got all self-conscious near the end. The movie's even better. Very sharp, dark, funny. Great cast. Give it a shot!

I probably should, if only to learn the words to that song.

[identity profile] lickingtoad.livejournal.com 2005-09-21 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I used to come home from my freshman year of college and watch two things before I went to bed each night; M*A*S*H and 'Are You Being Served?' I have seen every episode of either. The show certainly has its moments, (The last Henry episode ...) but I vastly prefer the movie.

Long, but apt. (I do likee song.)

Lyrics to the song 'SUICIDE IS PAINLESS':

Through early morning fog I see
visions of the things to be
the pains that are withheld for me
I realize and I can see...

[REFRAIN]:

that suicide is painless
it brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.

I try to find a way to make
all our little joys relate
without that ever-present hate
but now I know that it's too late, and ...

[REFRAIN]

The game of life is hard to play
I'm gonna lose it anyway
the losing card I'll someday lay
so this is all I have to say.

[REFRAIN]

The only way to win is cheat
and lay it down before I'm beat
and to another give my seat
for that's the only painless feat.

[REFRAIN]

The sword of time will pierce our skins
it doesn't hurt when it begins
but as it works its way on in
the pain grows stronger (watch it grin, but)

[REFRAIN]

A brave man once requested me
to answer questions that are key
is it to be or not to be
and I replied 'Oh why ask me?'

[REFRAIN]

'Cause suicide is painless
it brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.

...and you can do the same thing if you please.

I don't think I've missed any eps of M*A*S*H either, which was tough those last few years when it wasn't as good.

The last Henry episode. *sigh*

[identity profile] lickingtoad.livejournal.com 2005-09-21 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think even 'Goodbye, Farewell and Amen' (the finale) kills me to this day as much as Henry's "departure."

PS, you pop up everywhere. Quit knowing my friends! It's like you're my twin sister! (... who used to have that same 'problem.' Ahem.) Thus, I add you now. Welcome.

I must assert that Addams Family is superior to Munsters.

[identity profile] authoritys-dead.livejournal.com 2005-09-23 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
With me it's about The Munsters show, but The Addams Family movies were way better than The Munsters movies they put out.

Your wendesday backround, Christina Ricci=XOXO

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-09-23 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
I certainly hear you with regard to the series's. Obviously I have my own reasons for preferring the Addamses to the Munsters. I am a longtime reader of Chaz Addams's work, and think in many ways the movies are a more faithful adaptation of them, if only due to the constraints of 1960's television. But the series represented some great work and a lot of creepy spooky and ooky, which is what I crave.

Sorry to say, the Munsters came along second to ride the creep wave. Although I must admit the Munsters series themesong is vastly superior to the Addamses, and much more danceable. Sadly, Hammer did nothing to change this... ;-}
