Mac Users Unite:

As you may already know, I am now the proud owner of a 1999 ibook. I have named it The Electrified Fooling Machine because the battery does not work and it must be plugged in at all times. Kind of defeats the purpose of a laptop, no? I'm not complaining of course, just reveling in the delicious irony.

I will need to buy a new hard drive with 20-30gigs on it. I'll also need some more memory and eventually, a battery. Anyone know where I can find these things in some kind of affordable and reliable situation?

In other news, I'm kind of wierded out that my state tax refund hasn't arrived. I have already heard I'm not getting my federal refund, so one would think the state would have already made its way to my mail box. Then again, it may take much less time to send a snotty note than an actual check. It certainly does when I'm sending them.

Group was cool today. Some of those chicks are really starting to grow on me. Lots of lively personalities and plenty of attitude. There's this other chick that I know I know from somewhere but I can't figure out where. She's really cute though. We do all these therapy things that seem silly on their face, but end up being totally illuminating. Tonights involved drawing the faces we show people versus the faces that represent how we feel on the inside. I was surprised to find that all my inside feeling faces had closed eyes. I'm still trying to figure that out...I have some theories, but none good enough to go with. So in typical Wednes fashion, I'm overthinking it. I'm looking forward to my therapy session tomorrow. I think my doc will be plenty impressed. I'm also feeling very confident about my choice to forgo medication. I can be much braver and stronger than I have been telling myself I am.

And of course:
Happy 27th Birthday [livejournal.com profile] pak_man78 !!!
I doubt he'll see this as he never checks LJ anymore.
But if the Gods of Superman fandom and Crow fandom met and bred during the civil war, they'd create someone remarkably like Paul. He is an awesome cat, a kind and generous soul, and hilarious on long drives. Yay Paul!!!

And finally, the new South Park was pretty damn funny.

Back when I used to work at Computer Medic, just a few short miles away, the old Mac laptops used to do that when a fuse on the motherboard would blow. That's exactly how it would behave. Of course, this was the old Powerbook not the Ibook. I wonder if its the same sort of problem. It was relatively inexpensive. Of course, i'm probably "jinxing" myself by even mentioning it.

Check out crucial.com. That is where we got our memory. It came to me highly recomended by [livejournal.com profile] noverflow.

I can't help you find Mac accessories. But I can tell you you won't find a battery for a reasonable price. [livejournal.com profile] absinthofheart had a laptop we loaned to [livejournal.com profile] shamrock_19_79. Replacing the battery was in the neighborhood of $80-$120. I checked eBay, but the only batteries I could find for a reasonable price were used with no guarantee.

H suspects that the problem is that the docs are imrpoperly named and need the .doc thing at the end in order to attach and download properly. So I'm going to try that.

Right On!

Thanks.

Actually, $80-100 is pretty reasonable, considering the deal I got on the computer itself.

I figured it would be a lot, so it's cool that I don't need it right away.
