Lost
There's this show on ABC called Lost, which i had never seen because it comes on at the same time as Smallville. Last night they showed the pilot, which was 2 hours long. I must tell you that I was damn impressed. With the sucky writing on Smallville this season, it appears that I have yet another tough descision to make (at least until I can afford Tivo). I will spare you the spoilery details and say that if you watch Lost, you will see an excellent ensemble cast, clever writing and solid direction. You'll also vaguely recognize about 2/3's of the cast from other things even though Terry O"Quinn was the only person I knew by name. So if you get near this program, do check it out. So far, it gets my reccomends.
I coudln't help notice though that ABC has jumpd on the 70's key party bandwagon with a wife swapping show of thier very own. Why do they make shows with such horrible and offensive concepts? Because people watch them, I mean, that's the obvious answer. They are cheap to make because they use regular people who don't have agents and will work for nearly nothing just to be on TV. It's exploitive and juvenile, and not remotely funny: "Oh look, the carnivore doesn't want to eat tofu--hilarious". But what I find even more offensive is that these shows are hip and popular at exactly the same time in history that people are going fucking apeshit about how homosexuals are destroying the sanctity of all marriage with their dirty, dirty desire for legal marriage. So, trading your wife to another family for ratings and money is just fine; but the marriage of two committed peoples of the same gender is a godless affront to decency?!?
Would anyone care to explain this to me?
