Law & Order: Comprehensive Commentary by Wednes

When I was just about to graduate from college, I became aware of Law & Order. Having missed thw whole first season, I didn't realize that what would become a plethora of cast changes had already begun. I was totally aware, however, that Chris Noth was smokin' hot. And I found the show to be compellingly written...but I wasn't really into it. And I didn't get into it until I started also watching Homicide in 1993. As most of you no doubt know, Law and Order eventually became on of my favorite shows--even after the tragic demotion of Det Mike Logan.

When I heard they were making another whole show of Law & Order dealing mostly with sex crimes, I thought that was exploitive and uneccessary. But I watched. And I was outraged, and horrifed and I kept on watching. Then Ice-T came along to partner with Munch, and one of drama's most hilarious pairings occured. So when I heard there would be another show of Law & Order, I expected to love it as well. But no. I found that Vincent guy to be irritating and ridiculous. I didn't like seeing so much of the perps. Although Courtney Vance is awesome, that wasn't enough to make me watch.

In case you hadn't heard, Det Green is taking a few weeks off from Law & Order to be on Broadway. Happily, he is being replaced by Michael Imperioli on loan from the Sopranos. Anyone who finds that odd obviously hasn't noticed the many MANY casting overlaps that exist between David E Kelly, Dick Wolf and HBO shows. Watch for them sometime if you haven't already. Pretty much the whole cast of Sopranos has appeard on Law & Order at some point. Anyway, that is good news.

Then later, I heard Briscoe was getting his own show. I like Fontana, so I'm cool with that. And I was delighted to hear that they had also cast Fred Thompson and Bebe Neuwirth (sp?) to be on it as well. But after over 10 years of loyal watching and rewatching, the most amazing news came my way:

Vincent is leaving CI and being replaced by....wait for it...Det Mike Logan!!!

I know, it's too delicious!

Speaking of delicousness, we went shopping to buy stuff for holiday treat making. Because I am so poor, everyone on my very short list is getting an assortment of cookies, breads, cakes, and peanut brittle. And with the excpetion of H's family, I'll not be sending anything in the mail. I just can't afford it. But I hope you all know that I still love you lots. All of you, seriously.
Well, most of you anyway... *snerk*

And those of you who poo poo'd my assertion that men in thier 70's do not have "minor strokes" should wrap your brain around This. And now we've all got to be subjected to Ashlee Simpson. Which I guess means that there will likely be mass suicides in Time Square.
On that cheerful note, I bid you all good day!

you rock

Technically the cheer is for Yule, but I'm not telling THEM that...

;-)

And thanks!
I do find giving gifts to be the most fun, although I suppose getting them is nice too!

Yeah, and Broscoe will be back soon, next season on his very own show.

That's such a freakin' awesome icon. I just stared at it now for like four minutes.

I hadn't heard this before! I'm so glad to hear that the annoying man is leaving and Mike Logan is coming back. Woo hoo. Such happy news, and I can't wait for the new show to start.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah...that'll happen.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed.

And Merry Meet, BTW!

Merry Meet!

Such a lovely way to kill time. Reading the friends lists of communities. =)

Mike Logan is awesome.

Who ever heard of a minor stroke? That's like having a mild heart attack. There's no such thing.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree, that's where I met [livejournal.com profile] ladyteal, whose journal I enjoy very much.

[identity profile] madush69.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Both exist. My Mom has had like four mild heart attacks, and I had one aunt had a minor stroke, who ended up being fine. Another aunt had a major stroke and can barely walk.

They're bringing back Mike Logan? Nice - where did you find that out?

[identity profile] nate101000.livejournal.com 2004-12-14 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
How many heart attacks are fatal if untreated? 100%

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2004-12-14 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, I saw it at IMDB

[identity profile] madush69.livejournal.com 2004-12-14 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Holy crap! They never said she could have died from those heart attacks. With one of 'em, she went in and the doctor said that it appeared she had had a eart attack sometime that week. She said, "I did feel really bad on "whatever day it was." After describing wat had taken place, the doctor said, "That's when it happened." She took like three NITROS that day, thinking it was her flutters, or whatever they are.

[identity profile] nate101000.livejournal.com 2004-12-15 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
according to my dad's cardiologist all heart attacks are fatal. Some might take a week to kill you, some might take and hour, and some drop you in a second. But left untreated they all kill you.

Mike Myers: "D'Onofrio-hater!"

[identity profile] lickingtoad.livejournal.com 2004-12-15 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
He's an interesting cat, and I think you short-change him on the credit.

But [livejournal.com profile] pak_man78 and your erstwhile [livejournal.com profile] lickingtoad have a joke wherein his behavior makes sense if you understand that he's figured out the episode after the opening _dun-dun!_

He's smarter than you, and you're jealous. End of comment.
(Sinister laughter! Addendum to sinister laughter! By-now-gratuitous sinister laughter!)

Yeah, H says basically the same thing. That Goren is like the macGuyver of figuring things out.
