Mock the Stupid, indeed!

Since I've been home sick all afternoon, I spent the better part of it online. As many of you know, I have long wanted to be featured on LjDrama.org due to my great love of the dramatic genre. I was so close today, as this dill-rod posted a post mocking a fat lady with tattoos the poster thought were tactless. I took issue with that, fun ensues:

Ooops

I inadvertantly deleted a comment from wednes that I thought she posted in my personal journal and only after I deleted it did I realize she posted it here. It was an innocent mistake, and not at all because of her critiques. I can take the heat, no matter how silly I thought it was.

I appologize it got deleted, but here's the original:

wednes writes:
I will have to mock YOU, poster. I think it is pretty damn stupid to state that someones ink (someone whom you don't know by name even) is meanningless, tactless or "dumb-as-fuck". Tattoos are an art form, art is something that people appreciate as an aesthetic, which means that your own personal taste often dictates how you feel about it.

I'm sure this "rather large woman" as you so charitably call her, finds her tattoos to be plenty meanningful and pleasing.

As for the "area code" tat, do you really think that area codes are the only possible significance of 3 numbers? Could be a birthday, something in numerology, or anything at all really...And a "guy's name" could be her son, her recently deceased father or grandfather, or any number of people. Don't like it? How about you...oh I don't know...STOP STARING AT HER BOOBS???

It seems clear to me that you are simply judging this woman because you find her "low-class". That is pretty goddam dispicable in addition to your ignorance being tottaly mockworthy.

Did it really have all those typos in it? *blush*

But I contend that it is NOT silly to state that you not approving of someones choice of tattoos doesn't make them stupid; it just makes you look like a bitch.

Yeah, the whole "bitch" thing...nice. Very tactful and mature of you.

Now I wish I hadn't bothered being nice enought to put the post back.

I agree with Wednes, actually. Calling a person mockably stupid because you dislike their looks is about as immature as it gets. Am I mockably stupid for wearing a bonnet and ankle-length skirts? Is my friend stupid for wearing a cap with a red star on it? You can't just say, "I don't agree with you, therefore you are stupid."

Well, you could. But you'd be stupid.

I think the true stupidity at this point is in the high-schoolish like behavior that's very suitable for ljdrama.org.

Anyway, I hope you're both done and ready to move on, but if not, by all means, continue beating that dead horse.

About as tactful and mature as bashing a fat woman because you didn't know what her tattoos meant?

Like you, I calls 'em as I see 'em.

1) No one called her fat.
2) OK, you made your point, do you really need to create so fodor much ljdrama.org? I mean really, is there a point to all of this beyond anything you've already said, or do you just have a need to be heard? If you're going to be like this, do it in either your or my journal. There's no reason for others to have to see either of us get into this kind of immature bitchiness.

But...you just changed your post to add the word "tall". And I guess there's a new definition of the word "flab" that doesn't have anything to do with fat...

I'm not "being like' anything, I'm merely disagreeing with you and think that your post displayed astonishing bitchiness and immaturity. My take on this was that you were being terribly pretentious: judging someones appearance because you didn't approve of it and calling her (by virtue of you posting here) mockably stupid. I don't agree and have as much right to state my opinion as you have to post yours. I'm a member here, same as you.

But now that you mention it, you don't really seem to be able to "take the heat" at all...

Because you ASSUMED I meant fat. Don't assume things you don't know for fact. As for the flaming, constantly calling me a bitch, grow up.

Now are you done? I've grown extremely bored with this. Out of over 40 people who posted there are two, maybe three of you who are acting like poster children for ljdrama.org. It's very boring and not very flattering of you...now drop it. You're beginning to really do this merely to irritate me, and if you continue, we'll take this up with the opalcat. I wouldn't get into calling people bitches in this community if I were you. You'll not like the consequences.

I didn't call you a bitch, I said you were acting like one in your post. It's another of those subtle differences you find in art as in life. i do apologize if I offended anyone with my use of language, but I assume we're all grown ups here and can handle it. I probably could have said you were "mean spirited, purile, classist, or just plain old rude, but "bitchiness" really seemed to capture what i was feeling at the time.

Your threat is a funny one. I think I got a letter like that in high school once, only there were boxes I could check at the bottom.

Not to worry, Opalcat will probably address the issue if she feels like you need to be redirected to the community standards

Honestly, as bad as you make me out to be, you've come off looking slightly worse. Congradulations. Now I truly hope you're done.

Community standards?

You mean like this one:

"Don't post things as "stupid" when really they are just "things you don't agree with"."

Yeah, that's telling me!
But I still contend that I have not "made you out to be" anything. I simply said that I disagree with what you've said and why. It's not that big a deal.

I just looked back thru this thread to see if I had, in fact, assumed you were talking about fat gals. But no, the first person who disagreed with you--you replied using the word "obese". So clearly, you didn't mean a tall person, as you later edited. Unless of course, there is another definition of "obese" that I am not aware of.

Why not just accept the criticism like a grown up?

I'm bummed I missed being able to go to the shelter, but this was pretty fun too!
