Getting paid to not work, I feel like a farmer.
I applied for unemployment today. It turns out, they will be giving me over $100 a week to hang out at home and look for a job, write fiction, watch TV etc. Pretty much whatever I want. Truth be told, it's not a whole lot less than i was making already. And I won't have to take cab fare and lunch at the mall out of it...
I notice now that my resume is posted at a bunch of job job sites, I'm getting a lot more junk email and random phone calls on my cell. One today was asking me how I'd like to do telemarketing work. I think I'd like to telemarket about as much as i'd like to go back to fast food management, which is not very much at all.
Tonight I finally get to pick up my meds as my doc finally fixed her silly mistake. I am buying food for the cats, stamps and taking advantage of the big sale at Payless, in the true fashion of a very poor person. Better yet, I can get some shoes that match my fly briefcase (so i can look like a well scrubbed hustling rube with my good bag and my cheap shoes...and a little taste.) My briefcase is damn nice after all.
Best news of all is that we had a positive expereince with our new maintenance man. It seems that someone had taken the breaker out of our air conditioner for some reason. I'm not sure why the last guy who came out to fix it didn't notice that; but the important thing is it's fixed now and we are at a comfortable temp. In fact, my feet are chilly and I may go put some socks on. Our garbage disposal also appears to be fixed. I may just call again next week and see what he wants to do about the ants. Aparently the guy also added some Freeon tot he AC. I was of the impression that no one used Freeon anymore.
Tomorrow I'm going to Sec of State and I think I will take Sarah to lunch for helping me out. That will be both festive and fun. And I'm going to outline my story tonight, and hopfully bang out those scenes I have finished in my head. They are pretty scary, and I think I have a part for Joe Martin as well.
