A Breif Note to Everyone in the World:

A few of you seem confused as to the various roles humans play in the world. As such I have developed some new rules* that if followed, can keep you from looking like less of an ass in the future:

1. Bossing people around doesn't make you "the Boss".

2. Not being able to hear others viewpoints doens't automatically make you correct.

3. Just because something happens within ear or eyeshot of you, doesn't mean it has something to do with you, or is any of your business.

4. Do not commit crimes in front of windows or police.

5. Buying a camera does not make you a "production company".

6. Owning a book on Wicca does not make you a high preistess or any other kind of pagan elder.

7. If you can't let a silly argument go after a full month, please seek professional help.

8. If you can't keep a secret, please be honest about that when someone says "can you keep a secret?".

9. If you arent' sure whether or not you're under arrest, listen for the words "you're under arrest".

10. And for heaven's sake, if s/he has been untrustworthy in the past...get eveything in writing!!!

* If you think a passive agresive LJ post is about you, in full or in part, please do NOT bombard the writer with comments asking "is this about me?". If I'd wanted to tell you something personally, I would.

*Chuckling* Got some excellent words of wisdom there Wednes. . . I bow before thee.

Regarding a couple of those, particularly number 9. . . If a cop says one of the following, it's usually a good guarantee you're "under arrest."

1. "Will you please get into the back of my car, and come down to the station for processing?"-actual placement into arrest.

2. "You're under arrest!" Theoretically yes, theoretically no. Its when you get processed at the station where you enter the status of being under arrest. The general theory is that at the same time they're saying this, you either A. have a loaded gun pointed at you, B. one of the two is slappin' the cuffs on you (and not in a pleasant way either), or C. some combination of the above.

Generally the best way to respond to either is by saying, "not until A. I've talked to my lawyer, and/or B. you inform me of the charges for which I'm being arrested." Oh, and take down their badge number, name, et al.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

#10: Regardless of whether or not someone's been untrustworthy in the past, ALWAYS get it in writing; if its not written down, it never happened (in most legal circles anyways), which can be either a curse or a blessing depending on circumstances. Not only does it help cover your butt, but also leaves a nice little paper trail so potential problems can be avoided down the line (unless one is a career criminal, paper trails are actually useful/necessary evils in today's world).

------------------------------------------------------------------------

#5: Actually, buying a digital camera and having the necessary software on your computer to work with/alter it, and know how to use both; does in theory make one their own amatuer production company.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

#6: Oh, too true. . . but then the same can be said for owning any number of books on that or similar esoteric subjects. When it comes to being a high priest/ess or elder, it boils down to experience, wisdom, and age, not literature.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

#8: This is a tough one; So if someone asks you under "anamchara" (Irish pagan equivilent of confession, sort of) if you can keep a secret, and then says after your affirmative response that they have plans to set a bomb at such and such a place at such and such a time; are you then under a moral obligation to inform the appropriate officials of that, or are you breaching your vow of secrecy? *Just picking most extreme example to illustrate this point*

Or say, someone says a relative beat and raped them, and asks you to swear to secrecy, are you under a moral obligation to inform other people (say like employers, just to let them know you're under some stress and the cause thereof even if nothing ever gets down), or do you let it sit?
