The Horror of The Passion @ The Madstone

In case you live under a rock, a rather large movie opened this week. For those of us who work in a very small theatre, we have been getting mercilessly thwomped by Christians and our regular customers for 4 straight days. We are all working extra shifts, and dealing with many more people than usual.

Well, tonight I'm sorry to tell you that it has taken its toll on us. My favorite part of work is the great staff and how much we all get along. And by the end of the night people were screaming at eachother, crying, walking out...and just generally losing thier goddamn minds; myself included.

I've been home for hours and I still can't relax, despite being higher than I've been all week (shout out to a special buddy for THAT!). I'm tired of work, I'm tired of getting bossed around and treated rudely by young kids whom I have senority over and who are not management. The whole thing makes me feel very snarky and sad...because you all know I love my job so well.

I imagine we'll have some kind of meeting this week, where bitching about work can further monopolize my free time. I'm so damn tired and I can't seem to sleep. Although, I guess I haven't actually tried.

Nggghhaahhh!

I never meant to make anyone at work upset, but I'm tired of people who aren't the boss telling me what to do as well. For months when I have asked J if I could go home he defaults and says ask KF. Who's the Boss...It sure ain't Tony DANza, I'll tell ya that.

That's actually a bit different. K is supposed to be the concession supervisor, but New York won't create the position for her.

I feel bad that people were stressing out and disagreeing and generally having a crappy night, though somehow, I missed almost all of it. It's unfortunate since it's such a great group of people, as you said, and everyone is genuinely fond of one another. I'm not sure what can be done to rectify the situation. On nights like last night, when there were 6 people working behind the stand, I don't think there's really much reason for others to stay, nor is there really room for them to work back there, nor much for them to do. However, on other nights, when there are only 3, or 2, or 1, I can see how it would be very important to ensure that the concession closer(s has(ve some help. That makes it very hard to formulate a policy, though. At the State, there are no cleaners, so everyone knows that they have to stay to the bitter end and take on some part of the cleaning chores, but that's a very different situation, and you know i don't prefer working there. Sorry this is so long, but I just wanted to express my sympathy and thoughts.

*and, since I only work 1 night a week, my 'Stone experience is quite different from everyone else's.

Yeah, tha's all very true. It'a a common sense kind of thing, which means that someone bitching because they are tired of standing is not going to be conducive to morale. Anyway, I'm just glad its over and I'm off for 2 days.
