Sleep: How I long for thee...

What with [livejournal.com profile] uterdic being out of town, I had another of my festive gatherings last night. Lots of people showed up including [livejournal.com profile] psychswitch and [livejournal.com profile] madush69 and a good time was had by all. Sans S were [livejournal.com profile] absinthofheart and [livejournal.com profile] nate101000; and we were even blessed with a visit from [livejournal.com profile] mike21478. We did some Mad Libs that, as usual ended up being Pants-Peeing funny. Plus I learned that while Dominoes pizza is in fact, The Devil, that philly cheesesteak pizza thingy is damn good. By 3:30 in the am, everyone was gone and I was trying hard to sleep.

For some reason, my belly button was bleeding this morning.
Not quite sure what's up with that...

This mornings paper had a headline about The Patriot Act being used against non-terrorist suspects. And for some reason, people are surprised. "Gee, measure desinged to strip suspects of those pesky constitutional rights is being used for less than altruistic reasons?" You don't fucking say!
So...the same fatcat white males who live crooked lives and weasel out of thier illegal shit are now abusing powers they never should have been given in the first place???

Maybe this is just the Dr. Strangelove talking, but I hate government. I hate that a coke-head president wants to appear "tough on drugs" when had the law been applied equally to him, he'd still be in prison. I hate that we are lied to and deceived by our elected leaders, and that the mainstream media coddles these assholes and prints their fucking press releases instead of fighting to bring truth to the american people, like they are supposed to do!
As much as Michael Moore irritates me, I kind of wish he were running things, at least until I turn 35 and can do it myself...

GW is an appointed president. Gore was the elected president.

I never knew how fun Mad-Libs could be for "grown-ups." I hadn't done those in years. We are a decidedly naughty group of MadStoners and Mad-libbers. It was cool taking the time to get to know Nate and Kim a little better. Cool people. I was glad Mike came too. I knew Dan Russel would be there. He follows the falcon wherever it lands. And Andrew. Just too cool. I wish I had half his cool. Super guy!!
I love Nolan. *pets doggie*
I thank Heaven that I got a job at Madstone and met nice people. I actually feel human and social when I hang with you folks. I haven't seen my friend Robert (from High School) in at least two years. My friend Jarrod (from Specs Howard) lives in California, and my cousin Chris works too much, and actually enjoys setting aside time to spend with his super-nice wife. Bless us Madstoners and adjacent stoners...you guys truly truly rock.

Yes, I know. But still...

A few years ago, this guy was not allowed to be appointed to the Supreme Court because he has smoked pot in grad school. Yet a coke head can be the commander in chief?

Ludicrous.

Well yeah!

See you later, and go easy on my man!

He's gonna tear my throat out with his teeth. I never had a guy "neckin'" with me before.

That's the way the world is. When Bill lies about where his penis was he was impeached. When GW lies about our reasons for going to war, the media is too afraid of sounding unpatriotic to complain. The only solution is to get everybody to vote, or move out of the country.

a headline about The Patriot Act

[identity profile] mrrranda.livejournal.com 2003-09-28 10:53 am (UTC)(link)
Which paper? Is it online?

Have you heard of the recently-proposed VICTORY Act (http://abcnews.go.com/sections/us/WorldNewsTonight/victory_act030820.html)?

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2003-09-28 11:11 am (UTC)(link)
Sure you haven't...

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2003-09-28 11:12 am (UTC)(link)
I think for now I'll just complain loudly and practice passive forms of non-violent resistance.

It was in today's AANews.

[identity profile] squamous.livejournal.com 2003-09-28 12:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I have always hated the 'War on Drugs' mentality... it's so hypocritical and just seems like an easy way for politicians to have some issue to flog that gives the government abusive power and lots of dollars. And of course the handy powers granted by the 'War on Terror' will be used and abused widely, and probably never scaled back. The Libertarian Party hasn't even named a candidate for the 2004 Presidential election yet, but whoever it is will very likely have my vote. Not that one vote is a big deal.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2003-09-28 12:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I hear that...libertarians make more sense to me every year...even though I also support national health care.

But...

I think that whole 9/11 thing was a scam perpetrated by the Busch administration; along with thier business assocates the Bin Laden family. It was a publicity stunt for approval ratings that went terribly awry when the towers fell down completely instead of being mildly damaged. And afterwards they has instilled enough fear into americans (helped along by the mainstream media) to bully them into keeping silent while they pass measures restricting the basic liberties america is known for.

Holy Crap!

Treating minor drug offenders like terrorists just doesn't make sense from any reasonable angle. Legalizing, then taxing drugs would be far better than spending taxpayer money prosecuting otherwise law abiding citizens and creating a "war" that is as usless and impossible as emptying the ocean with a teaspoon.

And I hate how they give them "american" sounding names...Victory over what--freedom?
